Registered Dietitian

Part-time 0.4 temporary contract position

               

The Loyalist Family Health Team in Amherstview is seeking a dynamic team player. We are looking for a Registered Dietitian (0.4 temporary contract position) effective immediately end date to be determined. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Registered Dietitian will collaborate on initiatives such as Healthy Living, Metabolic Syndrome-Change program, and Craving Change as well as providing nutrition screening, assessment, and education to patients of the Loyalist Family Health Team in individual settings.

Job duties:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate nutrition programs and services for LFHT patients
  • Provide nutrition guidance, label interpretation and consultation services to patients of the loyalist family health team
  • Evaluate nutritional status of individuals and aid in the prevention and/or treatment of inadequate nutrition
  • Plan, evaluate and conduct nutrition education programs and develop educational materials for various patients
  • Practice on an individual basis and as a member of the LFHT interdisciplinary team to determine nutritional needs of patients and to plan, implement and evaluate normal and therapeutic diets to maintain and enhance general health
  • Analyze current scientific nutritional studies, conduct research and evaluate program effectiveness to improve the nutritional value, taste, appearance and preparation of food
  • Complete assessments of our patients and adapt nutritional plans as needed.
  • Implement personalized nutrition strategies.
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling for patients.
  • Confer with other health professionals, community groups, government and the LFHT providers to provide consultation and advice in areas of nutrition interpretation, intervention and policy Tracks patient; encounters, preventive care and education in the Electronic Medical Record
  • Communicates relevant nutritional information to other health care providers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a dietetic practicum recognized by Dietitians of Canada
  • Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience (preferred)
  • Certification in Diabetes Education (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible in a very active work environment

Salary starting at $35.65 per hour
